The social movie Tathastu released on May 12, 2006 under the banners of Karma Entertainment and Sahara One. The movie was directed by Anubhav Sinha and produced by Nitin Manmohan. The top roles in the movie were played by Sanjay Dutt, Jaya Prada, Amisha Patel and Manoj Pahwa whereas the roles of Gulshan Grover, Asrani, Master Yash Pathak and Darshan Jariwala were equally important. The music of the film was directed by Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani while the songs were sung by Humsar Hayat.

The director of the movie Anubhav Sinha has always impressed the audiences with his movies like ‘Dus’ but he fails to recreate the same magic with Tathastu. The movie is based on the theme of a father fighting alone against the corrupt system to save his son’s life. The story is about Ravi ( Sanjay Dutt ) who is working in an automobile company. He is married to a middle class girl Sarita ( Amisha Patel ) and has a 8 year old son Gaurav ( Yash Pathak ). His entire world seems to end when his son collapsed while playing cricket and was then diagnosed with a hole in his heart.

Gaurav required a heart transplant immediately and thus doctor asked his father to arrange Rs.1.5 million for the surgery. Ravi first tried to arrange the money by asking help from his office, insurance company and other things but no body came forward to help him. Gaurav’s condition is deteriorating day by day and thus Ravi took an emergency room. He then decided to fight with the corrupt system and grabbed a gun in his hand. He was supported by his wife, a cop, doctor and other troubled people.
