Bollywood action thriller, The Burning Train, written and directed by Ravi Chopra was released on March 20, 1980. The movie starred Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna and Hema Malini in lead roles while Vinod Mehra, Jeetendra, Neetu Singh, Parveen Babi, Danny Denzongpa, Simi Grewal, Asrani, Iftekhar, Satyendra Kapoor, Sujit Kumar, Rajendra nath, Naveen Nischol, Gufi Paintal, Ranjeet and Madan Puri also played important characters in the film. the superhit music of the film was given by none other than veteran music director Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Mohammed Rafi etc. The movie proved to be one of the biggest hit of that year.

The movie starts with two close friends Vinod Verma ( Vinod Khanna ) and Ashok ( Dharmendra ). They both get seperated after sometime and get involved in their work. vinod is an employee of the Indian Railway and is working on the project of making the fastest train of India. He works hard for several years and finally get succeed in making the train of his dreams. The Railways authority also agrees to his concept and allow him to start this train for the journey purpose. In the process of making his dream true, Vinod looses contact with wife and son also.

His train becomes all set to make it inaugural run from Delhi to Bombay in the time period of just 14 hours. The train leaves for his destination with full of passengers. Ashok learns that a bomb has been planted by Randhir ( Danny Denzongpa ) in the train which is going to be blasted before the train will arrive at its destination. He tries to inform Vinod about this but before he could inform him, the train leaves. Now Vinod and Ashok decides to stop the train and to defuse the bomb before it reaches its destination. But will they be able to do this?
