The Killer was an action triller released on July 21, 2006 under the banner of Vishesh Films. The movie was directed by Hasnain S Hyderabadwala and Raksha Mistry while it was produced by Mukesh Bhatt. The actors in the lead roles were Irrfan Khan, Nisha Kothari, Emraan Hashmi and Zakir Hussain. The music of the film was directed by the duo of Sajid and Wajid while the songs were sung by K K, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghosal, Hamza Faruqui, Alisha Chinoy and Suzanne D’Mello.

This has been a trend amongst the directors of Bollywood of using the English film to interpret in Hindi and present it to the Bollywood audiences. The Bhatt camp has done it several times before with the movies like Zeher, Kalyug and Gangster and now they are back with the movie The Killer which is an reinterpretation of Hollywood movie Collateral. The movie revolves around an Indian guy Nikhil Joshi ( Emraan Hashmi ) who has got to Dubai in hopes of earning good money. Presently he is a taxi driver who doesn’t mind working a little more to earn those extra bucks.

Nikhil is planning to run his own travel agency there and settling down with his love Ria ( Nisha Kothari ) who is a bar dancer by profession. The twist in the story comes when Nikhil is hired for the whole night by Vikram ( Irrfan Khan ). Vikram is in Dubai with some special plans of killing five people and Nikhil was unaware about this. He just dropped Vikram at his destination, picked up and moved to the other. Nikhil became the witness of every action and asked Vikram to free him but he was in no mood to leave him until his mission is fulfilled.
