Thikana was a crime and social drama released on October 23, 1987 under the banner of Diliwala Movies. The movie was directed by Harish Bhonsle and Mahesh Bhatt. The major roles in the movie were enacted by Anil Kapoor, Suresh Oberoi, Smita Patil and Anupam Kher while the supporting roles were played by Amrita Singh, Madan Jain, Rohini Hattangadi, Avtar Gill and Satish Kaushik. The music of the film was directed by Viju Shah while the songs were sung by Asha Bhosle, Alka Yagnik, Pankaj Udhas and Suresh Wadkar.

Thikana was a crime cum social movie that revolved mostly around an alcoholic and an unemployed guy Ravi Goel ( Anil Kapoor ) who just wasted his most of the life. He was given a good piece of advice by Police Inspector Ranbir Singh ( Suresh Oberoi ), who is his to be brother-in-law that he should work on his life to improve his living if he wants to get married to his sister Shashi ( Smita Patil ). Ravi wanted to be a lawyer and thus decided to make his living in this profession.

Ravi gave up drinking and also started practicing law. The story takes a turn when he comes across a dancer named Sheila ( Amrita Singh ) and both falls in love with each other. Soon he finds himself indulged in a problem as her brother Avinash was missing. Ravi now insisted her in finding him. He was able to find that he has been killed. The news devastated Sheila. Now Ravi decided to find his killers at any cost. The clue lied in Avinash’s swimming pool locker.
