Bollywood family drama flick, Ujala, directed by Naresh Saigal was released in the year 1959. The movie starred Shammi Kapoor and Mala Sinha in lead roles while Raj Kumar, Shivraj, Baby Shobha, Leela Chitnis, Ramesh Sinha, Suresh, Baby Shobha, Rajan Kapoor, Kumkum and Raja Amrohi also played important characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the veteran music director duo Shankar Jaikishen while the songs were rendered by Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh, Manna Dey, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

Young and handsome, Ramu ( Shammi Kapoor ) is living a poor lifestyle alongwith his mother ( Leela Chitnis ). Ramu always dreams of becoming rich so that he can provide his mother a wealthy lifestyle. He come across a beautiful girl named Chabili ( Mala Sinha ). Soon they both falls in love with each other. Chabili also belongs to a poor family. Ramu has a friend named Kalu ( Raj Kumar ), who is not a good person at all. Kalu always asks Ramu to join him in his robbing activities. He tries to convince him that there is no other way to get rich soon.

Ramu always refuse to accept his offer. But continous failure in life make Ramu starts believing that Kalu is right. Kalu finally manage to convince Ramu that he can get rich soon by only taking crime path. Ramu joins the gang of Kalu and starts living a wealthy lifestyle by perfroming crime alongwith him. But situation gets worsen for him when he ends up murdering a guy while performing robeery in a house. What will happen now?
