The family drama Vakil Babu was released on April 9, 1982. The movie was directed by Asit Sen and produced by Jawahar Kapoor. The key roles in the movie were enacted by Shashi Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Zeenat Aman and Kanhaiya Lal while Kamal, Rakesh Roshan, Kishore Sahu, Rehman, Anju Mahendroo and Rinku Jaiwal were also there in the film. The music of the film was directed by Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Asha Bhosle, Amit Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Suresh Wadkar and Alka Yagnik.

The movie Vakil Babu was a family flick that revolved mostly around a blind man named Shekhar Kumar ( Shashi Kapoor ) who being visually impaired earns his living through sculpting. One day his life took a turn for good when he came across a lovely girl named Kalpana Choudhry ( Zeenat Aman ). Both fell in love with each other and soon got married. The marriage was followed by their honeymoon for which the couple decided to go to a cruise.

Shekhar never knew that the honeymoon would leave him devastated. It was then when they were on the cruise that he finds that Kalpana fooled him and left him when she escaped with her friend named Prem Oberoi ( Rakesh Roshan ). Prem and she were in deep love before her marriage and when he asked her about her marriage she told him that she is not married. The movie takes a turn when in the morning, the ship captain finds the dead body of Prem.
