Bollywood emotional action drama, Vidhaata, directed by showman Subhash Ghai ws released on December 3, 1982. the movie starred Dilip Kumar, Sanjay Dutt and Padmini Kolhapure while Shammi Kapoor, Amrish Puri, Sanjeev Kumar, Suresh Oberoi, Sarika and Krishan Dhawan also played importanta roles in the film. The superhit music of the film was directed by the veteran music director duo Kalyanji-Anandji while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Suresh Wadkar, Lata Mangeshkar, Alka Yagnik, Asha Bhonsle and Sadhna Sargam. The movie was a hit at the box office window.

Shamsher Singh ( Dilip Kumar ) is a hardworking man who does not believe in god. His family comprises of his son, Pratap Singh ( Suresh Oberoi ) and his daughter-in-law. Pratap Singh is a police inspector and is brutally killed by Jagauwar Chaudhary ( Amrish Puri ) in one of his operation. Shamsher Singh takes revenge from Chaudhary and assumes that Chaudhary is dead. Shamsher’s daughter-in-law also dies after giving birth to a son. Shamsher Singh names him Kunal ( Sanjay Dutt ). Shamsher also decides to take path of crime so that he can make available all the facitilities to Kunal.

Years after, Shamsher Singh, who is now famous as Shobraj becomes the don of the city. Kunal is also a grownup guy now under the shelter of Abu Baba ( Sanjeev Kumar ). Kunal meets with a beautiful girl, Durga ( Padmini Kolhapure ) and falls in love with her. But Shobraj dislikes her because of her poverty and ask Durga’s mother to stop permitting Durga to meet Kunal. Durga and her mother decides to move out of the city but are attacked by some goons. Abu Baba comes to their rescue but unfortunately killed by them. Kunal decides to take revenge from the goons and starts his search. However, he becomes shocked when he learns that the goons work for none other but his grandfather.
