Yesteryear hit movie, Waqt, directed by Yash Chopra was released in the year 1965. The movie starred Sunil Dutt, Raj Kumar, Shashi Kapoor in lead roles while Sadhna, Sharmila Tagore and Balraj Sahni also played important roles in the film. The movie was distributed under the banner of Shemaroo Video Pvt. Ltd. The evergreen hit music of the film was given by Ravi and the songs were sung by Mahendra Kapoor, Manna Dey and Asha Bhonsle. The movie performed well at the box office and went on to became one of the biggest hit of that year.

The movie starts with Lala Kedarnath ( Balraj Sahni ), who has three sons and his family has every thing money, fame, power etc. Lala Kedar nath does not believes in destiny and everytime makes a laugh on it. One day he arranges a party at his home. At the end of the party, Lala Kadarnath makes a promise to his wife, Laxmi ( Achala Sachdev ) that he will become even more richer. But then destiny plays it’s game and in a sudden earthquake, Kedarnath looses his house and his family.

His elder son, Raju, ( Raj Kumar ) is sent to a orphanage, but soon he runs away from there because of constant beating of the manager. His middle son, Ravi, ( Sunil Dutt ) is found by a rich couple who adopts him. And his youngest son, Vijay, ( Shashi Kapoor ) is with his mother Laxmi. Years later, Raju is a theif now while Ravi is a lawyer by profession. They are in love with the same girl, Meena ( Sadhna ). Lala Kedarnath finds out the orphanage where Raju was sent. In the end the family finally reunites.
