The social movie Yatra was released on May 4, 2007. Yatra has been directed by Gautam Ghose and produced by Bipin Vohra. The lead roles have been played by Rekha, Nakul Vaid, Nana Patekar and Deepti Naval while important characters were displayed by Anandi Ghose, Raima Sen and Bharati Devi. The music of the film has been directed by Khayyam and Gautam Ghose and the songs were sung by Asha Bhosle, Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan, Talat Aziz, Ustad Rashid Khan and Jojo Khan.

The theme of the film is debatable and raises a social issue about the prostitutes. The film begins when a famous writer Dasrath Joglekar ( Nana Patekar ) is travelling to Delhi to collect his well deserved famous Literary Award. On his way during the journey he come across a huge young fan of his and a film maker by profession ( Nakul Vaid ). Te fan liked Dasrath’s writing very much and the meeting explored the memories from the past. The two people started discussing Dasrath’s most famous novel Janaza and started reconstructing the charcters of the novel played by Lajvanti ( Rekha ).

Dasrath after receiving the award in Delhi began writing his another novel but the memories of his previous novel trouble him and this is why he disappeared from the hotel. The closed ones of Dasrath started worrying about him. He goes to Mehendi galli where the people like to listen to Mujras. He was surprised to see the change there, Lajvanti now performs popular film song numbers. Even Lajvanti was surprised to see him there. The past of the both the people comes alive and they started singing the melodies from their past.
