The movie Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota was released on July 21, 2006 under the banner of Cat Films. The movie was directed by Naseruddin Shah and produced by Shabbir Boxwala. The main roles were played by Jimmy Shergill, Ravi Baswani, Konkona Sen Sharma and Irrfan Khan while the roles of Boman Irani, Saroj Khan, Tinu Anand and Paresh Rawal were also important. The music of the film was directed by Viju Shah and the songs were sung by Kunal Ganjawala, Madhushree, Sunidhi Chauhan and Javed Ali.

The movie Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota was special to not only the actors of the film but also to the director Naseruddin Shah as this was his first film as a director. He has tried to narrate four parallel stories in the film just like the movies Darna Mana Hai, Kuchh Meetha Ho Jaye and Yuva to name a few. This is also the first film to portray the tragedy of 9/11 and the impact on the world afterwards. Tilottima Punj ( Kokona Sensharma ) is happy because she is married to her love Hemant ( Jimmy Sheirgill ) whom she met through the internet. He had to return to US soon for his job and this is why Tilottima manages to get a visa and heads to L.A.

Salim Rajabali ( Irrfan Khan ) is a stock broker and loved Namrata ( Suhasini Mulay ). He gets involved in a murder unwillingly and discovers that she has been cheating on him. He then decides to run away from the country. Rahul ( Ankur Khanna ) is a brilliant but pitiable student who somehow managed to get admission in a prestigious university abroad. He was helped by a friend ( Ayesha Takia ) and thus plans to fly to pursue his dreams. Tara ( Ratna Pathak Shah ) mortgages her house in order to manage her daughter ( Shahana Goswami ) join the foreign shows of Rajubhai ( Paresh Rawal ).
