Bollywood action thriller, Zakhmi Aurat, directed by Avtar Bhogal was released on September 2, 1988. The movie starred Raj Babbar and Dimple Kapadia in lead roles while Chand Usmani, Anupam Kher, Satyendra kapoor, Rama Vij, Beena Banerjee, Aruna Irani, Leela Mishra, Roopesh Kumar, Om Shivpuri, Avtar Gill and Kalpana Iyer also played significant characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by none other than well known music director Bappi lahiri while the songs were crooned by Mohammed Aziz, Anuradha Paudwal, Asha Bhonsle etc.

The movie starts with a beautiful girl named Kiran Dutt ( Dimple Kapadia ) who is living a poor lifestyle alongwith her parents. A guy named Sukhdev ( Punnet Issar ) get smitten by her beauty and decides to get married with her. He proposes to her but she refuse to accpet his marraige proposal. enraged Sukhdev then decides to teach her a lesson. He abducts Kiran and performs rape with her. Devastated Kiran seeks justice from the law.

She goes in court and ask for justice from the judge. But a corrupt lawyer named Mahendra Nath ( Anupam Kher ) proves that Kiran was not raped at all. He even convinces in the court that Kiran is a fraud and doing all this for just money. Kiran then decides to take revenge from Sukhdev from her own. But how she will be able to fight against Sukhdev in the male dominating society.
