Yesteryear hit bollywood movie, Zanjeer, directed by Prakash Mehra was released in the year 1973. The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri in lead roles while Pran, Bindu and Ajit were also seen in the important roles. The superhit music of the film was given by Kalyanji Anandji and the songs were rendered by Manna Dey, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Mohammed Rafi. The movie set the new angry young man image of Amitabh Bachchan. The movie did a very good business at the box office window and went on to won several Filmfare Awards.

The movie starts with a guy named Vijay ( Amitabh Bachchan ), who is a honest police officer. He is haunted by the dreams of his parent’s killer since his childhood. A criminal, Sher Khan ( Pran ), becomes his friend after getiing defeated by him in a fight. He also meets a beautiful girl named, Mala ( Jaya Bhaduri ), and falls in love with her. He is assigned the case of incidents of deaths due to poisonous illicit liquor.

Seth Dharam Dayal Teja ( Ajit ) is the person behind the deaths due to poisonous illicit liquor. Teja traps Vijay and he got jailed for six months on false charges. When Vijay comes out of the jail, he plans to take revenge from Teja. Sher Khan helps him in taking revenge from Teja. Later Vijay also learns that Teja is the person who murdered his parents 20 years back. Teja is the person whose deadly image has haunted him everynight.
