After Tarun Mansukhani directed the biggest money-spinner last year in the form of Dostana, he was flooded with offers from nay production houses to direct their movies but he decided to stick with friend and mentor Karan Johar. He got these many offers despite the fact that people knew he would not be leaving Dharma productions. He will be directing eth sequel to Dostana and Koochie Koochie Hota Hai for them this year.

He started this career by assisting Karan in the movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and then was the first assistant director in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. He says that while he is working for Karan he is under no sort of pressure. Never has Karan put any pressure on him in terms of market expectations and helped his creativity with giving him flexibility with the budget of the movie.

Karan has much bigger dreams for me than what I have for myself Tarun said recently. He will be working to make sure both of them have their dreams fulfilled. He knows that the only reason his movie Dostana got such a bug name and opening was due of the name it was attached with that is Dharma productions. Over the years, Karan has entertained the audiences, he knows their pulse and just caters to it with his movies.

The critics have often termed his style of movie making as plastic but that is no problem until the time audiences come, watch those plastic movies and love them. After worked with him from so many years he sis till in awe him. He has never seen him getting angry at people even after they make the same mistake again, he instead urges them to movie on.
