Amitabh and Tabu will be paired opposite each other in the movie The Legend Of Kunal. This will be their second movie together after Cheeni Kum fame. The two actors form an unusual couple. Tabu will be playing the wife of Amitabh in the movie. Chandraprakash Diwedi will be directing the movie and it will be produces by AB corp. The movie will be based on the life of emperor Ashok.

The directors in Bollywood seem to be fascinated with the life of emperor Ashok. A movie has been made with Shahrukh in the lead. Rajkumar Santoshi was also some time ago planning a movie on the life of Ashok but the movie had to be shelved due to unknown reasons. The screenplay of the movie was especially difficult to write as it consisted of 52 chapters of an Upanishad.

Tabu will be playing the character of Tishyarakshita. She was the beautiful wife of Ashok who almost single handedly brought the entire kingdom down. The movie will focus on the life of Ashok after he became a saint after fighting wars in the early part of his life. Diwedi says that playing Tishyarakshita required a strong presence on screen, which Tabu had along with the beauty. He had no choice except Amitabh for the character of Amitabh he says.

This will be the first time that in a career spanning more than a decade that Amitabh will be playing a historical character. The director will be visiting the birthplace of Lord Buddha for doing some groundwork related to the movie. He says that he has a big task and two exceptional actors to work with. He says that he will try not to disappoint anybody.
