Manoj Kumar came to be known as the patriot after the performance he put in the movie Upkar and now Sohail Khan might have something similar in this mind with his mvoie Kisaan. He might have done more than just buy the copyrights of the song Mere Desh ki dharti. From the looks of it the movie seems to be inspired and adapted from that movie.

Like in that movie a mother is put in a dilemma where she can send only one of her two sons to the city to study. Manoj Kumar stays back to become a farmer whereas Prem Chopra goes to the city to study and comes back with only progress in his mind and no respect for his motherland. Here also the story is somewhat similar except that here it is a father who is in the same dilemma.

Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan play the two sons. Arbaaz goes to the city life and comes back a transformed man completely whereas Sohail plays the farmer and wants to use his role to pay tribute to the farmers of India. Sohail is flattered when he comes to know that people are drawing comparisons between him and Manoj Kumar.

He feels that yes the movie have the same funda of a family being ripped apart due to difference in ideologies. The same thing can be found in movies like Deewar, Mother India and Upkar. Sohail feels that today the movies do not represent the farmers and are not made for them when they still are major part of the population living in India.
