Abbas-Mustan’s thriller packed film Ajnabee was released in the year 2001. The film starred Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Kareena Kapoor and sexy Bipasha Basu in the lead roles. The other actors who did important roles in the film are Jhonny Lever, Amita Nangia and Mink. The music of the movie was given by none other than Anu Malik and it proved out to be one of the best musics of the year 2001. Akshay Kumar and Bipasha won the Filmfare Best Villain Award and Filmfare Best Female Debut Award respectively for their performance in the film.

Movie starts with newly married Raj ( Bobby Deol ) and Priya Malhotra ( Kareena Kapoor ) who have moved to Switzerland for enjoying their honeymoon. There they meet Vicky ( Akshay Kumar ) and Sonia Bajaj ( Bipasha Basu ) who are their neighbour and also newly married like them. In no time both of the couples becomes close friends. They plan to enjoy the vacations together in Mauritius and straightaway fly for there. During the trip, one day Vicky suggests Raj to swap each their wives for a night. Raj burst into anger and cuts all contact with him. But very soon they become friends again. But on the occasion of his birthday, Vicky once again suggest to drunken Raj about wives swapping thing and he readily agreed to it. But the very next day Raj wakes up and finds out that Sonia has been murdered. He got trapped in the murder of Sonia and sentenced to death. But he runs away from the Jail i order to prove himself inncocent to this world as well as court. Rest of the film is all about how he prove himself innocent.
