Anu Malik or Anwar Malik, son of veteran composer Sardar Malik, is a famous as well as most versatile music director of the Hindi Cinema. He made his debut with the movie Hunterwali in 1981. He gave music in various films such as Mard, Sohni Mahiwal, Ganga Jamuna Saraswati, Allah Rakha etc but failed to attract the attention of people towards him.

In year 1993, he shot fame by giving hit chartbuster songs in Shahrukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Kajol starrer Baazigar. He also won his first Filmfare Best Music Director Award for the movie. He kept on giving hit music in the movies like Fiza, Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai etc. His association with singer Alisha Chinai gave many hits time to time in the form of Ruk ruk ruk are baba ruk o my darling and Saare nazaare yahan dekhe aaye jo meri galiyon mein of Vijaypath and No Entry respectively.

Anu Malik was also seen in the role of a judge of a musical talent show Indian Idol. He also did playback singing for his won compositions in various films. He crooned the superhit song ‘Ek garam chai ki pyali ho‘ picturised on none other than Salman Khan. He also tried his hands in private albums too. He has won the National Award for Best Music Direction in the movie Refugee.
