Lucky Ali or Maqsood Mehmood Ali was born on September 19, 1958.He is the second of the eight children of the famous bollywood comedian, Mehmood. But Lucky did not get along very well with his father because of the busy schedule of Mehmood sahab. He sang his first song ‘ Nasha nasha’for the movie Dushman Duniya Ka, directed by his father Mehmood.

His real breakthrough came in the form of Hrithik Roshan debut movie Kaho Na Pyaar Hai in which he rendered two hit songs of the movie, Na tum jaano naa hum and Ek pal ka jeena fir to hai jaana. He also won his first Filmfare Best Male Playback Singer Award for that song. Later he also tried his hands in acting too. He did many films such as Yeh Hai Zindagi, Trikall etc but remained unnoticed until he did Sanjay Gupta’s Kaante.

Then he acted in the hit musical film titled Sur-The Melody of Life in which he was seen in the role of famous singer who is in search of his successor. Though he has done playback singing in many films but still he is more famous for his private album Sunoh. The song ‘O sanam mohabbat ki kasam‘ in the album established him as a reputed pop singer. His soon to be released film in which he has sang some beatiful no. is Aamir Khan Productions Janne Tu Ya Naa Jane.
