Mr. India, directed by Shekhar Kapoor was released on 25th May 1987. The movie starred Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Amrish puri in lead roles. Ashok Kumar and Satish Kaushik did significant roles in the movie. The movie was a science fiction film in which Anil Kapoor performed the role of an invisible man.

The movie starts with Mogambo ( Amrish Puri ), who is planning to conquer India entirely with the help of his two henchmen, Teja ( Ajit Vachani) and Daaga ( Sharat Saxena ). On the other hand, there is poor guy Arun verma ( Anil Kapoor ), who houses a dozen or so orphaned children. His cook Calendar ( Satish Kaushik ) reminds him of the rise in the cost of running home. Arun decides to rent out the first floor of the house. Seema ( Sridevi ), who is a reporter in a local newspaper, takes the room on rent. On day Arun meets his father’s friend Dr. Sinha ( Ashok Kumar ), who informs him about his father’s discovery, a device that would make it’s user invisible and he can be seen in red colour only. What Arun do with the gadget and how Mr. India becomes a wall between Mogambo and his wish comprises the rest of the tale.
