B. R. Chopra’s Naya Daur was released in the year 1957. The movie starred Dilip Kumar, Ajit and Vyjayantimala in lead roles. Actor Jeevan played the antagonist in the film. The superhit music of the film was given by O. P. Nayyar. Recently the colourized version of the film was released on 3 august 2007. Initially, Madhubala was signed by the director for the film but later Vyajayantimala was enrolled on her place.

The story of the movie is all about Tangewallas who earn their living by transporting people from one place to another depending on the their will. But their livelihood is threatened when the Industrialization slowly starts creepng in. Jeevan, son of a rich landlord plans to begins a bus service in the town for his own benefit. But Dilip Kumar ( one of the Tangewala) stands against the decision of the landlord. Then, Jeevan proposes a race competition between Tangewala and bus to decide which of the service is the best. He concludes that if the Bus wins the race then nobody will oppose his decision of bringing in Bus in the town.

Dilip Kumar accepts his challenge as according to him the race is the last opportunity for them to stop the entry of Buses in the town. However, the rest of the Tangawallahs do not agree with him. Dilip initiates the process single handedly with the support of his girlfriend. Later the people realizes their mistake and come together. And in the end after passing many hurdles, Dilip wins the race.
