Bollywood playback singer Shabbir Kumar was born in Vadodara. He was the leading bollywood playback singer in the period of 1980. He started his singing career with the stage show Ek Shaam Rafi Ke Naam. He was highly inspired by the Mohammad Rafi’s style of singing which is quite understood by listening his songs.

Shabbir Kumar debut film as a playback singer was 1981 released Tajurba. But he eventually shot to fame when music director duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal gave him opportunity to sing for Amitabh Bachchan starrer movie, Coolie. After that he crooned some hit songs for Sunny Deol’s debut movie, Betaab. The songs rendered by him in the film were highly appreciated by the people and the success of the film established him as the leading bollywood playback singer of that time.

Shabbir Kumar sang for all the top music directors of bollywood including Laxmikant Pyarelal, R. D. Burman, Rajesh Roshan, Anu Malik, Nadeem Shravan, A.R. Rahman etc. His last hit song was Gori hain kalaiyan pehna de mujhe hari hari chudiyaan from Amitabh Bachchan starrer Aaj Ka Arjun.
