Indian pop singer, Usha Uthup or Usha Iyer, was born on November 8, 1947. She has sung in almost 14 Indian languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil etc. Her three sisters are also singers by occupation. She started her career in the year 1968 by recording covers of two pop songs in English.

She moved towards playback singing in the year 1970. She has worked with almost all the top music directors of bollywood like R D Burman, Bappi Lahiri etc. She is more known for her trademark bindi and gajra she wears on her head. She also tried her hands in acting too. She did the role of Mamootty’s mother in a Malayalam movie Pothen Vava.
