Evergreen bollywood actress, Rekha, was born as Bhanurekha Ganesan on October 10, 1954 in Tamil Nadu, India. She has acted in over 180 films till now in her 40 years long bollywood career. She started her acting career in 1969 with the movie tilted Do Shikari. Her kiss scene with the leading hero Biswajit in the movie created huge controversies at that time. Her next film Sawan Bhado did exceptionally well at the box office.

Later she did movies like Rampur Ka Lakshman, Do Anjaane etc. But she shot to fame after playing a rape victim in the movie Ghar opposite Vinod Mehra. She was praised by audience as well as critics for her excellent performance in the film. After that she was seen opposite Amitabh Bachchan in the superhit movie Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. She gave many hit films alongwith Big B such as Mr. Natwarlal, Silsila etc.

She won National Film Award for Best Actress for her performnace in the movie Umrao Jaan. She did many movies in a row such as Baseraa, Ek Hi Bhool, Jeevan Dhara, Utsav etc. She mainly did women oriented films such as Khoobsurat and Khoon Bhari Maang for which she won two Filmfare Awards for Best Actress Category. Later she did films like Kamasutra : A Tale Of Love and Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi.

She made a superb comeback in year 2003 by playing the role of Hrithik Roshan’s mother in sci-fi movie Koi Mil Gaya. She also did a sexy item number in Parineeta. She was also seen in the role of Hrithik’s grandmother in Krrish, which was infact a sequel to Koi Mil Gaya.
