Shantanu Mukherjee better known as Shaan stands seperate among all the current top bollywood singers including Sonu nigam, Udit Narayan etc. He was born in a Bengali family on 30th September 1972. He started his career by singing ad jingles.

He got his first break as a playback singer in the movie Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi. He was quite appreciated by people for his song Musu musu in the movie. After that he sung songs in many films including Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai, Dil Chahta Hai, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Hum Tum etc.

He also hosted Sa Re Ga Ma Pa music contest on Zee TV in the year 2003. But in order to spend more time with his family he opted out from the show in year 2007. Later the show goes in the hand of Aditya Narayan. Very few knows that Shaan has also acted in the hindi movie named Daman. Recently he won the Best Male Playback Singer award for his song Jab se tere naina from the movie Saanwariya.
