Bollywood yesteryear hit movie, Aasha, directed by J. Om Prakash and written by Ram Kelkar was released on March 4, 1980. The movie starred Jeetendra, Rameshwari and Reena Roy in lead roles while Girish Karnad, Sunder, Dulari, Sudhir Dalvi, Keshav Rana, Shivraj, Yunus Parvez, Sulochana Latkar and Bhagwan also played significant charcaters in the film. The melodious hit music of the movie was directed by veteran music director duo Laxmikant Pyarelal while the songs were rendered by Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Narendra Chanchal etc. The movie was one of the biggest hit of that year.

The movie starts with a truck driver named Deepak ( Jeetendra ). He meets with a famous singer named Asha ( Reena Roy ) and gives her lift in his truck. They becomes very good friend of each other. Deepak is in love with a beautiful girl named Mala ( Rameshwari ) and wants to get married with her. Soon Deepak introduces Mala to her mom and after her approval they get married with each other. Mala is suffering from a eye problem due to which she loses her sight. Destiny stucks and Deepak also meets with an accident while driving. Deepak’s body is nowhere to be found and is assumed to be dead. Deepak’s mom blames Mala for this an throws her out of the house.

Mala is pregnant with Deepak’s child but is forced to live a poor life. Mala gives brith to a girl and they both starts leading a poor life. On the otherhand, Deepak is still alive and rescued by Asha. Deepak tries to find Mala but for no results. Deepak and Asha falls in love with each other and Deepak proposes her for marraige. But before they could get married with each other, Asha finds out that Mala is alive. Now asha has to decide whether she should keep this news a secret from Deepak or tell him the truth straightaway.
