Bollywood family drama, Afsana, directed by B. R. Chopra and wriietn by I. S. Johar was released in the year 1951. The movie starred Ashok Kumar and Veena in lead roles while Tabssum, Jeevan, Rattan Kumar, Pran, Rajendra Sharma, Kuldeep kaur, Upendra sharma, Prem Kohli and Chaman Puri also played important characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was composed by the well known music director Husanlal Bhagatram while the songs were sung by Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh, Lata mangeshkar, Shamshad Begum etc.

Ratan and Chaman ( both played by Ashok Kumar ) are twin brothers who are in love with the same girl named Meera ( Veena ). Unfortunately in afair, they all get seperated. Years later, Chaman and Meera meets and recognize each other. Ratan is still untraceble. Chaman has now no interest in meera and is actually attracted to Rasili ( Cuckoo ), who is a dancer by profession. Chaman gets into a fight with a guy and ends up killing him. Chaman is now on a run from police.

Meera tries to prove the incident as an accident in court and get succeed in doing so. Chaman then returns to the city once again. But soon Meera get suspicious about Chaman as this is not the same Chaman any more. Chaman is now not interested in Rasili anymore. Chaman starts spending more time with Meera and this creates doubt in Meera’s mind that may be he is not Chaman but her true lover, Ratan.
