The action thriller Agent Vinod was released in the year of 1977 under the banner of Rajshri Productions Pvt Ltd. The movie was directed by Deepak Bahry. The major roles in the movie were played by Mahendra Sandhu, Jagdeep, Asha Sachdev and Iftekhar while the supporting roles were played by Helen, Rehana Sultan, Bhagwan, Leena Das, Nazir Hussain and Pinchoo Kapoor. The music of the film was directed by Ram Lakshman while the songs were sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar.

As the name of the movie Agent Vinod suggests, the movie was an action thriller that was liked by many people at that time. The story of the movie revolved mostly around a man named Agent Vinod ( Mahendra Sandhu ) who is the most trusted and skilled police agent. The movie starts with the kidnapping of a scientist named Ajay Saxena ( Nazir Hussain ) who is a talented person and capable of doing something good for the country.

But his kidnapping created ripples in the police department and provoked the Chief of Secret Services ( K.N. Singh ) to take some serious action. He thus appoints Agent Vinod to get some secret information about him. During the investigation he comes across a woman named Anju Saxena ( Asha Sachdev ) who also helped him and wanted to reveal the kidnappers of her father Madanlal ( Iftekhar ). In this matter they were helped by Chandu alias James Bond ( Jagdeep ).
