Bollywood romantic flick, Ajanabee, directed by Shakti Samanta and written by Gulshan nanda was released on September 18, 1974. The movie starred Rajesh Khanna and Zeeenat Aman in lead roles while Madan Puri, Prem Chopra, Jankidas, Krishnakant, Asit Sen, Asrani, Raj Mehra and Leena Das also played significant characters in the film. The hit evergreen romantic music of the movie was directed by the well knwon veteran music director Rahul Dev Burman while the songs of the movie were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Lata mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle.

Rohit Kumar Saxena ( Rajesh Khanna ) is living a middle class life in the city. he come across a beautiful girl named Reshmi ( Zeenat Aman ) and instantly falls in love with her. Reshmi too get attracted towards him and they both decides to get married to each other. Reshmi is the only daughter of a wealthy businessman named Diwan Sardarilal and therefore his father opposes to this marraige. Rohit and Reshmi get married. Reshmi then gets pregnant but decides that she does not want the child now. The reason for her decision is that she has just won Miss India crown and offered to travel abroad.

But Rohit wants her to give birth to child. Argument ensues between them and as a result of this Reshmi returns to live with her father. Rohit then recieves a leagal notice from Sardarilal for divorce. Rohit then gets a job as a station master at a hill station and goes there. There he once again meets with Reshmi and her father, who humiliates him for his poor lifestyle. Rohit is now determined to become a rich person at any cost so that he can get his wife back. What Rohit will do now?
