Raaj Kumar and Meena Kumari starrer romantic family drama, Ardhangini, was released on january 1, 1959. The movie was directed by Ajit Chakroborthy. The other starcast of the movie includes Durga Khote, Jeevan Kala, Gopi Krishna, Kumari Naaz, Agha, Shubha Khote and Praveen Paul in significant characters. The melodious music of the movie was composed by the veteran music director Vasant Desai while the songs were beautifuly sung by Mohammed Rafi, Geeta Dutt, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

Chayya ( Meena Kumari ) is living alongwith her father. He father arranges her marriage to a guy but his family refuse to accept Chayya as their daughter-in-law after learning about her past life. Her father passes away in the shock. Chayya then starts living alongwith her friend, Leela Lal and her husband, Murari. Murari and Leela introduces her to a handsome guy named Prakash ( Raaj Kumar ), who is an airline pilot by profession. Soon Prakash and Chayya falls in love with each other and decides to get married.

Prakash decides to introduce her to his mother. But Chayya get schoked to learn that his mother is the same woman wjho rejected her in past. She leaves the house without even meeting with anyone. Prakash convince everyone in his family for his marrige with Chayya. Soon they both get married to each other. But Chayya’s real problem starts when she enters in Prakash’s house.
