Rajesh Khanna and Rekha starrer romantic family drama, Asha Jyoti, was released on April 16, 1984. The movie was written and directed by Narayana Rao Dasari. The other starcast of the movie includes Reena Roy, Roopesh Kumar, Madan Puri, Asrani, Om Shivpuri, Dina Pathak and Asha Lata in important roles. The hit music of the movie was composed by the veteran music director duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle etc.

Deepak Chander ( Rajesh ) is a well known musician. He learns that his father, who is dead now, has a second wife and duaghter. Deepak falls in love with a beautiful girl named Jyoti ( Rekha ), who is a big fan of the musical tones of Deepak. Deepak and Jyoti get married with each other. Deepak and Jyoti meets with an accident. Deeak survives but Police fails to collect Jyoti’s dead body. Deepak assumes that Jyoti is no more alive. He then get attracted towards a wealthy girl named Asha ( Reena Roy ). Soon he get married with Asha and starts living a happy life.

But destiny strikes again when he learns that Jyoti is still alive. The situation gets even worsen when Joyti returns to him alongwith her newborn son. Deepak hides the secret of Jyoti’s presence from Asha and ask Jyoti to go back from his life as he is now married and devoted to Asha. Jyoti relocates at some other place and satrst working as a dance teacher in a dance school. Deepak expects him to be in more danger when he revelas that Asha is actually learning dance from Jyoti.
