Awara Paagal Deewana was a comedy action movie released on June 21, 2002 under the banner of Base Industries Group. The movie was directed by Vikram Bhatt and produced by Firoz Nadiadwala. The major roles in the movie were enacted by Akshay Kumar, Aftab Shivdasani, Sunil Shetty and Paresh Rawal while the roles of Aarti Chhabria and Preeti Jhangiani were also important. Music of the film was directed by Anu Malik and the songs were sung by Adnan Sami, Anuradha Paudwal, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan and Sonu Nigam.

The movie Awara Paagal Deewana was a comedy and action movie that is all about the hilarious experience faced by a dentist who accidentally gets trapped into underworld. The movie starts when a big don ( Om Puri ) dies leaving behind a will that created rift between his only son Vikrant ( Rahul Dev ) and his son-in-law Guru Gulab Khatri ( Akshay Kumar ). Guru Gulab is married to Vikrant’s stepsister Preeti ( Preeti Jhangiani ). The will says that to claim the diamonds worth hundred crore rupees, all three have to be present in person to sign the papers.

The diamonds were required to be divided between the three people but in case of a death of one member, the death certificate have to be submitted before the bank and the diamonds will now be divided among the remaining two people. This clause creates rivalry between Vikrant and Guru Gulab. Guru leaves India for America and becomes a neighbor of Dr. Anmol Acharya ( Aftab Shivdasani ). To know about Guru’s location, Vikrant announces prize money on him.
