The romantic movie Ayaash was released in the year of 1982. The movie was directed as well as produced by Shakti Samanta. The key roles in the movie were enacted by Rajesh Khanna, Amrish Puri, Mithun Chakraborty and Shabana while Parveen Babi, Zeenat Aman, Sanjeev Kumar, Rati Agnihotri and Arun Govil were also there in the film. The music of the film was directed by Ravindra Jain while the songs were sung by Vijay Yesudas.

The movie Ayaash was a romantic film that had nothing much to offer to the audience. The movie showcased the era of British rule in 1930. It was the time when most of the Indians were busy agitating the British to leave India. The story of the movie revolved mostly around a man named Thakur Jaswant Singh ( Sanjeev Kumar ) who was a rich man living a comfortable life with his friends. Their everyday schedule includes drinking alcohol and enjoying the dance of courtesans.

Jaswant was a careless person and his day starts when he wakes whether it is morning or the evening. Jaswant met his friend Sansar who introduced to him a photographer friend of his named Amal ( Arun Govil ). Jaswant hires him on the spot with the appropriate salary and benefits. Amal accompanies him everywhere including to the place where he goes to enjoy the dance to take his photos. Jaswant marries one girl ( Rati Agnihotri ) and some time later becomes the father of a boy named Naresh.
