Bollywood action drama, Bandhan, directed by K. Muralimohana Rao and Rajesh Malik was released on October 2, 1998. The movie starred Salman Khan, Jackie Shroff and Rambha in lead roles while Ashwani Bhave, Shweta Menon, Shashi Kiran, Aashif Sheikh, Anjan Srivastava, Mukesh Rishi, Himani Shivpuri, Ashok Saraf and Shakti Kapoor also played important characters in the film. The melodious hit music of the movie was given by Anand Raj Anand, Himesh Reshamiya and Surendra Singh Sodhi in collaboration while the songs were rendered by Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, Abhijeet, Kavita Krishnamurthy and Sapna Awasthi.

The movie starts with Thakur Suraj Pratap ( Jackie Shroff ), who falls in love with a poor girl named Pooja ( Ashwani Bhave ) after seeing her praying in the temple. He decides to get married with her and sends his marriage proposal to her family. Soon they both get married to each other. Pooja ask Suraj to take her younger brother, Raju ( Salman Khan ) with them. Suraj agrees to her wish and takesh Raju along with them. Years later, Suraj’s younger sister, Jyoti ( Rambha ) returns to village after completing her studies. Jyoti falls in love with Raju’s simplicity and good nature.

Pooja has been unable to have any children but neither Suraj nor Pooja is unhappy about this. Suraj then meets with a beautiful women named Vaishali ( Shweta Menon ). Vaishali seduces Suraj and after a slight initial refusal, Suraj finally gives his resistation. Suraj make Vaishali his mistress and spending more time with her. When Raju finds out about this, he stands in support of his sister’s rights. However, Suraj is not willing to listen anything against Vaishali and even threatens to divorce Pooja over Vaishali.
