The social movie Bas Ek Pal had been released on September 15, 2006 under the banners of Paramhans Creations and Movies N More Pvt. Ltd. and Sahara One. The movie was directed by Onir and produced by Manohar Kanungo and Shailesh R Singh. The main roles were played by Sanjay Suri, Urmila Matondkar, Jimmy Shergill and Juhi Chawla while the roles of Rehaan Engineer, Chetan Pandit and Yashpal Sharma were also important. The music of the film was directed by Pritam Chakraborty and Mithoon and the songs were sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, Atif Aslam, K K and Zubeen Garg.

The director of the movie Bas Ek Pal, Onir made his debut with the movie My Brother Nikhil which raised the issue of HIV and AIDS in Goa in 1980s. The movie also raised the issue of gay relationships and was first on its topic. Bas Ek Pal is also based on a social topic of relationships between five peoples in the film. Nikhil Kapoor ( Sanjay Suri ) is a smart MBA from Boston who returns to Mumbai to recover from the memories of his parents death. Anamika Joshi ( Urmila Matondkar ) is an attractive civil engineer who soon transforms into a caring woman from being a carefree girl.

The movie revolves around the urban relationships of five people whose lives changes completely after an incident. One night in a party at the Anticlock Pub, Nikhil meets Anamika who started liking her from that very instant. She left the pub even without telling her name to him. Nikhil started visiting the pub in hopes of finding her again. One day he entered the pub with his friends Rahul ( Jimmy Shergill ) and Steve ( Rehaan Engineer ) and saw Anamika. An argument takes place and the sound of a shot fired from a gun is heard. This was the incident that changed the lives of all of them.
