Bollywood musical family drama, Bidaai, directed by L. V. Prasad and written by Anand Kumar was released on October 9, 1974. The movie starred Jeetendra and Leena Chadravarkar in lead roles while Satyendra kapoor, Dinesh Hingoo, Durga Khote, Meena T., Anwar Hussain, Kanan Kaushal and Madan Puri also played significant characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the veteran well known music director duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Suman Kalyanpur and Asha Bhonsle.

The movie starts with a guy named Sudhakar ( Jeetendra ), who lives alongwith his mother, elder brother, Prabhakar ( Satyendra Kapoor ) and a dumb sister, Gauri ( Meena T. ). Prabhakar leaves the house after getting married to a women named Pooja. Years later, Sudhakar is a grown up guy now and is looking for a job. He relocates to city after getting a job call from there. But soon he is forced to return to his village when his sister commits suicide when she is not allowed to get married with her lover, Murli.

Sudhakar then get married to a beautiful women named Padma ( Leena Chandravarkar ). But Padma likes to live her life in his own style and does not want any interference from Sudhakar’s mother. This leads to the argument in the house. As a result of this, pregnant Padma decides to leave the house and Sudhakar is also forced to leave the house alongwith her. Now what will happen to Sudhakar’s mother?
