Bollywood action thriller, Boxer, directed by Raj N. Sippy and written by Vinay Shukla was released on February 17, 1984. The movie starred Mithun Chakraborthy and Rati Agnihotri in lead roles while Sharat saxena, Tanuja, Parikshat sahni, Jagdish Raj, Sujit Kumar, Iftekhar and Danny Denzongpa also played significant characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the veteran well knwon music director duo Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Hariharan, Kavita Krishnamurthy and Asha Bhonsle.

Dharma ( Danny Denzongpa ) is a boxer by profession and works for Kashmir Silk Mills. He is assured by his senior officer that if he will win fight against Shera then he will be send to london by him. But unfortunately, Dharam looses the game against Shera and is seriously injured in the game. He is told by the doctor that he will never be able to do boxing again in his life. As a result of this he is fired from his job. Devastated Dharma takes alcohol ina big way and ignores his family totally. His wife, Savitri ( Tanuja ) decides to bring their son, Shankar ( Mithun Chakraborthy ) on her own.

Savitri gives birth to another child and names him Sonu. Years later, Shankar is now a criminal and often get arrested by police. One day he meets with a boxing manager named Tony Breganza ( Parikshat Sahni ), who ask him to take boxing as his career. Shankar agrees and decides to fight against the boxing champion Raghuraj ( Sharat Saxena ). however he looses the match and is then forced by his girlfriend named Rajni ( Rati Agnihotri ) to make a promise that he will never take boxing again.
