Bollywood fantasy suspense thriller, Chamatkaar, directed by Rajiv Mehra and written by Shaukat Baig was released on July 8, 1992. The movie starred Shahrukh Khan and Urmila Matondkar in lead roles while Naseeruddin Shah, Shammi Kapoor, Tinnu Anand, Deven Verma, Rakesh Bedi, Ashutosh Gowariker and Malvika Tiwari also played important roles in the film. The hit music of the movie was directed by the well knwon music director Anu Malik while the songs were rendered by Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Sukhwinder Singh, Asha Bhonsle and Poornima.

The movie starts with a simple-minded guy named Sunder Srivastava ( Shahrukh Khan ), who aims of fulfilling his father’s last wish of opening a school in his village. But he has no money to execute this plan. He then meets with his friend, Prem, who has arrived in the village on vacation. Prem ask him mortage his property to the Zamindar so that he can arrange for his ticket to Dubai. Prem convinces him that soon he will inherit the sufficient amount with which he can fulfill his father’s wish. Sunder does so and arrives in Bombay only to find that Prem actually fooled him.

Sunder’s luggage and money is also robbed by a theif. Sunder has no money left now to even take a room in a hotel. He is forced to live at a graveyard. There he meets with a ghost named Amar Kumar aka Macro ( Naseeruddin Shah ), who was brutally killed and thrown in the grave about twenty years ago. Macro was a criminal don who had left his all bad businesses for his lady lovem Savitri ( Malvika Tiwari ). But was then killed by his right hand man, Kunta ( Tinnu Anand ). Now Macro seeks revenge from Kunta with the help of Sunder.
