The family drama Dhoop Chhaon was released in the year of 1977. The movie was directed by Prahlad Sharma and produced by S N Jain. The major roles in the movie were played by Sanjeev Kumar, Om Shiv Puri, Hema Malini and Badri Prasad while the supporting roles were played by Jankidas, Nasir Husain, Yogita Bali and Gajanan Jagirdar. The music of the film was directed by Shankarsinh Raghuwanshi and Jaikishan Dayabhai Pankal while the lyrics were given by Kaifi Azmi, Vithalbhai Patel, Vishveshwar Sharma and Virendra Mishra.

The movie Dhoop Chhaon was a family flick that started showcasing the outbreak of one of the deadly diseases called Plague in rural village of India. There were many concerned people with this but it was the Dr. D.D. Sinha ( Om Shivpuri ) who wanted to cure this very fast. He asked many doctors who were willing to go to the location and prevent the spread of the disease. No one came up but it was the Dr. Paras ( Sanjeev Kumar ) who was ready to go out there and prevent the disease from spreading.

As promised, Dr. Paras goes to the affected area and treats the patients out there. Thus he managed to prevent the spread of disease to other communities with the help of villagers. Soon his life changes for good when he comes across a village girl named Lajwanti alias Lajjo ( Hema Malini ) with whom he fell in love with. Paras promises her to return back and marry her but he does not and the angry villagers beat her up so much that she loses her eyesight.
