Bollywood romantic family drama, Dilbar, directed by B. Krishna Rao and written by Achala Nagar was released on June 2, 1994. The movie starred Rishikesh Raj and Mamta Kulkarni in lead roles while Suresh Oberoi, Tanushree, Tej Sapru, Beena Banerjee, Aparajita, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Johnny Lever, Nawaz Khan and Laxmikant Berde also played significant characters in the film. The hit music of the movie was directed by the well known music director duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal while the songs were crooned by Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Vinod Rathod, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Alka Yagnik etc.

The movie starts with a beautiful girl named Priya Verma ( Mamta Kulkarni ), who is studying in a college. One day she is attacked by some goons who tries to molest her but is saved by a guy nmaed Ravi ( Rishikesh Raj ). They both then falls in love with each other and decides to get married soon. Priya then introduces Ravi to her brother named Sridhar Verma ( Suresh Oberoi ), who is a police inspector by profession. Sridhar refuse to accept Ravi as his brother-in-law and ask Priya to not to meet again to him. But Priya is determined to get married with Ravi only.

Sridhar then warns her that if she will get married with Ravi then he will kill himself. Priya then agrees to obey her brother’s saying. Sridhar wants her to get married with a guy named Vishal ( Nawaz Khan ), who belongs to a wealthy family. It is then Priya reveals that Sridhar wants her to get married with Vishal in order to take revenge from Vishal’s father.
