The romantic comedy Dillagi was released in the year of 1978. The movie was directed by Basu Chatterjee and produced by Ajit Singh and Bikram Sing Dahal. The major roles in the movie were played by Dharmendra, Bindu, Hema Malini and Deven Verma while the supporting roles were played by Asrani, Mithu Mukherjee, Urmila Bhatt, Kajree, Preeti Ganguli and Ritu Kamal. The music of the film was directed by Kishore Sharma while the songs were sung by Nitin Mukesh, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar and Suman Kalyanpur.

The movie Dillagi was a romantic comic movie that revolved mostly around a lady named Phoolrenu who lived in Kashipur with her family consisting of her widowed mother and younger brother named Ramesh. She earns her living by teaching Chemistry in a distant college named Roop Narayan Girls’ College where she was popularly called as Carbon Dioxide because of her bitter attitude with the students.

The romantic story for her starts when she comes across a man named Swarnkamal who was the Sanskrit Lecturer in the same college. He falls in love with her as soon as he saw her. But Phoolrenu wanted to test him for all the things he does, like his manner of teaching Sanskrit; the teachings of Maha-Kavi Kali-Das; the romance between Lord Shankar and Devi Parvati. He soon realize that she has also started loving him though slowly, so he also pays a visit to the same village.
