Bollywood comedy flick, Do Phool, directed by S. Ramanathan and written by Abrar Alvi was released on March 21, 1974. The movie starred Vinod Khanna and Aruna Irani in lead roles while Mehmood, Ashok Kumar, Malaban Mehmood, Anjana Mumtaz, Naushir Khatau and Lalita Pawar also played important characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was composed by none other than well known music director named Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle.

Pavitra ( Mehmood ) and Charitra ( Vinod Khanna ) are two sons of a wealthy person named Diwan Bahadur Atal Rai ( Ashok Kumar ) and are living a wealthy lifestyle in the their palatial house. Pavitra was adopted by Diwan and his wife when they were childless and considers him as their real elder son. Both Pavitra and Charitra are spoiled sons and used to drink alcohol and dance with girls. Charitra is arranged to get married with a beautiful girl named Shaila ( Aruna Irani ). But Charitra and Pavitra plays a dirty prank with Shaila and as a result of this they both are thrown out of the house by Diwan.

After few days, Charita returns to home and tells Diwan that he had an argument with Pavitra and has kniffed him to death. A Police inpector comes to arrest Charitra. It is then Charitra tells the truth that he was just playing a prank with his father with the help of his brother. But problem arises when a dead body is found and identified as the dead body of Pavitra. Now Charitra is on a run from police.
