Bollywood action thriller, Gair, directed by Ashok Gaekwad and written by Rajeev Kaul was released in the year 1999. The movie starred Ajay Devgan and Raveena Tandon in lead roles while Amrish Puri, Reena Roy, Sulabha Deshpande, Ajinkya Deo, Kiran Kumar, Satyendra Kapoor, Praesh Rawal and Rajesh Puri also played significant characters in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was composed by the hit well knwon music director duo Anand Milind while the songs were rendered by Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Sadhana Sargam, Abhijeet and Kavita Krishnamurthy.

Vijay Kumar ( Ajay Devgan ) is an orphan who is a rich businessman. He is in love with a beautiful girl named Madhu ( Raveena Tandon ) and is planning to get married with her. Raja ( Ajinkya Deo ) is the spoilt son of a rich businessman named C. K. Oberoi ( Amrish Puri ), who is a well wisher of Vijay. Oberoi always faces bad behaviour of his wife, Sharda ( Reena Roy ) for praising Vijay in front of their son. Raja is jealous with Vijay and his success and wants to beat him in the life at any cost. Raja also falls in love Madhu and decides to get married with her. He tells this to his father, who approches Madhu’s father for the marraige proposal but after learning that Vijay and Madhu are in love with each other decides to sides Vijay’s proposal.

Raja gets furious with this behaviour of his father. Raja’s uncle, Jagat Mama ( Paresh Rawal ), who wants to inherit the welath of C. K. Oberoi decides to help Raja in getting revenge from Vijay. Raja’s mother also decides to go to Vijay’s home for asking him to go from his family’s life. But she get shocked to see the face of Vijay, who resembles excatly her ex-lover. Sharda reveals that Vijay is actually her own son but fears to accept the truth as she does not want to spoil her happy married life.
