Bollywood action thriller, Gehri Chaal, directed by C. V. Sridhar was released on July 26, 1973. The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra and Hema malini in lead roles while Prem Chopra, Bindu, Suraj, Ajay Kumari, Chandrashekhar and Prem Kumar also played important characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was composed by the hit veteran music director duo Laxmikant Pyarelal while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc.

Hema ( Hema Malini ) is living a wealthy lifestyle alongwith her father, who is the chairman of the Olympic Bank. But her life gets upturned when she finds her father’s dead body in her home. She immediately calls her brother, Ratan ( Amitabh Bachchan ). Ratan arrives there and get shocked to see a note lying besides their father’s dead body which clarifies that he was responsible for the fraud of Rs. 20 lakh. Ratan decides to keep this a secret from the outer world as he does not want his family’s good name to spoil because one such incident. He even decides to keep this a secret from Hema also.

But problem arises when a blackmailer asks Ratan to participate in a bank robbery otherwise he will disclose the secret of his father’s death. Ratan decides to assists him in robbery. They successfully robs the bank and Ratan feels relieved that now nobody will ever be able to know the truth about his father’s death. But he get another shock when his best friend, Sagar ( Jeetendra ), who is a police officer by profession, is assigned this case. What will happen now?
