Bollywood romantic family drama, Gharonda, directed by Bhimsen was released in the eyar 1977. The movie starred Amol Palekar and Zarina Wahab in lead roles while Dina Pathak, Shreeram Lagoo, Sadhu Meher, Jalal Agha and T. P. Jain also played important characters in the film. The music of the film was given by none other than ace music director Jaidev Verma while the songs were crooned by Bhupendra Singh, Runa Laila etc. The moviue managed to do average business at the box office and is appreciated by some special genre of people.

The movie belongs to two lovebirds Amol Palekar and Zarina Wahab. Both belongs to middle class families and are working in a firm. They are deeply in love with each other. They plan to get married but then decides that first they should build a home for themselves in the city. They both want a better and secure future of them and hence working hard for that. But building a house in the Bombay city is certainly not an easy task for anyone and they soon discover this reality.

But none of the two losse hope and continously work hard for fullfilling their dream. Though both of them have the same ambition or dream but they have totally different views on proceeeding on it. Soon they both starts feeling that it would not be an easy task for them to build home in quick time and even the guy deciudes to get married first instead of fullfilling their dream. But the girl is in no mood to marry him till their dream come true. This leads to a bitterness in their relationship.
