Bollywood comic family drama, Guddi, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and written by Gulzar was released on January 1, 1971. The movie starred Dharmendra and Jaya Bhaduri in lead roles while Utpal Dutt, Mohan Chotti, Asrani, Vijay Sharma, Sumita Sanyal, A. K. Hangal and Keshto Mukherjee also played significant characters in the film. The hit evergreen music of the movie was directed by none other than well known music director Vasant Desai while the songs were crooned by Vani Jairam, Hemanta Mukherjee etc.

The movie starts with a young and cute girl named Kusum aka Guddi ( Jaya Bhaduri ), who is crazy about bollywood films. She is a very big fan of bollywood actor Dharmendra ( Dharmendra ). She thinks that the things which are shown in movie are based on real life. She is crazy about Dharmendra to such an extent that she even refuse to get married with any other guy except Dharmendra. There is a young guy named Kishen ( Vijay Shrama ), who is deeply in love with her but she does not care about him and his feelings.

To make her understand the difference between films and real life, Kusum’s uncle takes help of the movie stars. He tries to show her that movie are just fiction and not reality. He takes her to shooting sets and even introduces her to film stars including Dharmendra. They all tries to convince her that films are just fiction and have no relation with real life. Whether Kusum will be able to understand this fact?
