Bollywood action thriller, Hathkadi, starring Govinda and Shilpa Shetty in lead roles was released on March 31, 1995. The movie was directed by well known director Rama Rao Tatineni. The other starcast of the film includes Madhoo, Shakti Kapoor, Alok Nath, Satyendra Kapoor, Kiran Kumar, Tej Sapru, Arun Govil, Laxmikant Berde, Puneet Issar and Jayalalitha in important roles. The superhit music of the movie was composed by the famous msic director Anu Malik while the songs were beautifully crooned by Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, Sadhana Sargam, Roop Kumar Rathod and Anu Malik himself.

The movie starts with Suraj Chauhan ( Govinda ), who is an honest and brave Assistant Commissioner of Police. He is living a happy life with his family, His younger brother, Arun Chauhan ( Arun Govil ) is a crime reporter by profession. Arun is brutally killed by a contract killer named Chakku Pande ( Puneet Issar ). Arun’s death news leave enraged Suraj to seek revenge from his killers. Suraj swears to avenge his brother’s death. But for that he first needs to find out the person, who gave the contract of killing Arun to Chakku pande. His investigation bringshim to the corrrupt politicain, Bhavani Shankar ( Shakti Kapoor ).

Bhavani is involved in various criminal activities but no one has proof against him. Arun was after Bhavani froma long time and was collecting proof against him. Bhavani comes to know about Arun’s intentions and he gaves the contract of his murder to Chakku pande. After knowing all these things, Suraj decides to take revenge from Bhavani at any cost. But unknown to Suraj’s, he has a lookalike named Rajnikant ( Govinda ) in the city who is a conman. How Suraj manage to take revnege from Bhavani for Arun’s death? What happens when Suraj and Rajnikant faces each other?
