The comedy film Hulchul was released on November 26, 2004 under the banner of Venus Records & Tapes. The movie was directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Ganesh Jain and Ratan Jain. The major roles in the film were played by Akshaye Khanna, Jackie Shroff, Kareena Kapoor and Sunil Shetty while the presence of Paresh Rawal and Arbaaz Khan supported the film. Music of the film was directed by Vidyasagar and the songs were sung by Udit Narayan, Sadhana Sargam, Shaan, Sujatha and Gayatri Ganjawala.

Hulchul is a remake of the hit Malayalam movie God father similar to the movies Hera Pheri and Hungama. The movie is directed by the famous director Priyadarshan who has also directed famous comedy movies Hera Pheri and Hungama. After the success of the previous movies, a lot was expected from his new flick and he delivered just that. The story of the movie is about two families, one of which situated at small town Matkapur and headed by Angaarchand ( Amrish Puri ) and the other lead by Lakshmidevi ( Lakshmi ) in Anpura village.

Angaarchand and his four sons constituting of Balram ( Jackie Shroff  ), Kishen ( Paresh Rawal ), Shakti ( Arbaaz Khan ) and Jai ( Akshaye Khanna ) have taken a pledge to keep away from women due to some family tragedy. One can’t even talk about the opposite sex. Lakshmidevi was also waiting to take revenge from him. Destiny gave her that chance, Jai and Lakshmidevi’s grand daughter Anjali ( Kareena Kapoor ) got admission in the same college. Both started loving each other and then comes the twist in the story.
