Bollywood musical famil drama, Hum Dono, directed by Amarjeetand written by Vijay Anand was released in the year 1961. The movie starred Dev Anand and Sadhana Shivdasani in lead roles while Nanda, Rashid Khan, Lalita Pawar, Prem Sagar, Prabhu Dayal, Ravikant, Gajanan Jagirdar, D Kumar and Bhagwan Sinha also played important characters in the film. The hit evergreen music of the movie was directed by the music director Jaidev Verma while the songs were crooned by Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc.

Mahesh Anand ( Dev Anand ) is in love with Mita ( Sadhana Shivdasani ) and wants to get married with her. But she wants him to get a job first. Mahesh then decides to join army. He gets enrolled in the Army as a Captain. During a war, he come across Major Manohar Lal Verma ( Dev Anand ), who looks exactly like him. They both becomes friends. Major Verma goes mkissing after the war and is believed to be dead. Mahesh is asked to convey this message to his Verma family. But he gets into a problem when Verma’s wife and mother mistakes Mahesh for Manohar.

Verma’s wife, Ruma ( Nanda ) and his mother welcomes mahesh heartedly. Mahesh fails to tell them the truth and decides to pretend as Manohar in front of them. But this creates more problems for Mahesh as his own girlfriend, Mita starts thinking that he is no more in love with her. On the otherhand, Manohar’s wife also starts thinking that her husband is having an affair with some other woman. What Mahesh will do now?
