The action and social drama Jaanbaaz was released on June 20, 1986 under the banner of F K Films Pvt Ltd. The movie was directed as well as produced by Feroz Khan. The important roles in the movie were played by Feroz Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Anil Kapoor and Sridevi while the roles of Amrish Puri, Shakti Kapoor, Jagdeep, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Rekha and Raza Murad were equally important. The music of the film was directed by Kalyanji Veerji and Anandji while the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Sapna Mukherjee, Manhar Udhas, Sadhana Sargam and Anand.

The movie Jaanbaaz was a great action and social film that was able to make its presence felt for a long time. The story of the movie revolved mostly around Rana Vikram Singh ( Amrish Puri ) who lived with his wife Laxmi in a big farm house. The surprising thing about his life was that he had two sons Rajesh ( Feroz Khan ) and Amar (Anil Kapoor ). While Rajesh is a dedicated and honest police officer who loved his job very much, Amar is completely opposite of him who is a womanizer and an alcoholic.

The twist in the story comes when an orphaned girl Reshma ( Dimple Kapadia ) came to live with them. Reshma and Amar got intimate with each other. When Rajesh came to know that Amar has a liking for Reshma, he warns him that she is not suitable for their family. But Amar maintains an interest and is jealous to see Reshma in the company of Vikas ( Dalip Tahil ), an employee at the farmhouse. This ensue a fight between Amar and Vikas in which Vikas was killed and Rajesh was required to catch him.
