The action movie Khakee was released on January 23, 2004 under the banner of DMS Films Pvt Ltd. The movie was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Keshu Ramsay. The important roles were played by Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai while the presence of Tusshar Kapoor and Atul Kulkarni supporte the film. Music of the film was directed by Ram Sampat and the songs were sung by Arnab Chakravorty, Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghosal and Richa Sharma.

Khakee has been produced by the renowned director Rajkumar Santoshi who has several hits under his name like Ghayal, Damini, Pukar, Lajja and The Legend of Bhagat Singh. The movie has a long list of the stars playing the lead roles in the film and is thought to be similar to Madhur Bhandarkar’s Aan, based on similar theme. The movie aims to show the functioning of the police force and not their negative qualities. The movie starts when a routine transfer of an ISI terrorist Iqbal Ansari ( Atul Kulkarni ) from Chandanghad to Mumbai resulted in a nightmare for the police.

Ansari was successful to escape and the charge to catch him was now given to “The Professor”, DCP Anant Shrivastav ( Amitabh Bachchan ) on the eve of his daughter’s wedding. He didn’t have a good image in the eyes of others and also in his so this was his last chance to prove him. Another brave soldier Sr. Inspector Shekhar Sachdev ( Akshay Kumar ) was also forced on this mission. Sub-Inspector Ashwin Gupte ( Tusshar Kapoor ) was also chosen for his first serious assignment. He is very excited about the mission.
